Belfast Royal Academy is seeking a suitably qualified contractor to manage and grow the catering services at the school from 1st July 2025.

Founded in 1785 the school is the oldest in the City and has a proud heritage of delivering the highest quality of education in North Belfast for 240 years. Originally situated near St. Anne’s Cathedral in what is now Academy Street, it was transferred to the Cliftonville Road in 1880, when the present, listed Crombie building was erected.

The school is a co-educational day voluntary grammar school. The main school campus, based on the Cliftonville Road site, has approximately 1,480 pupils and 150 staff.

The school is seeking to appoint an experienced and innovative school catering provider to develop and deliver catering services at the Cliftonville Road campus. The contract will operate during school term time only.

Food services are provided in the four main areas:

  1. The school canteen/restaurant
  2. The Jackson Suite
  3. The 6th Form Centre
  4. Lower 6th Form

The School also requires hospitality catering for internal meetings and events.

The school has a fully equipped kitchen that has capacity to expand its current trading.

It is our understanding that Service Provision Change (Protection of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 will apply to the above contract.

Providers wishing to express an interest must register with the by 7th January 2025 and submit a questionnaire that also contains further information on the Tender.
