Belfast High School, which is based on the Shore Road, Newtownabbey on an idyllic site overlooking the Belfast Lough, is seeking expressions of interest from catering contractors who can demonstrate their ability to provide a sustainable and high-quality catering service to students, staff and visitors alike.
Currently there are 948 students on site as well as around 100 staff members.
Average daily numbers using the cafeteria and sixth form centre service are around 450-480 (including those entitled to free school meals) in normal trading times. Catering services are required 5 days per week throughout the school year, with one lunch-time session currently operating for the entire school, although this may be reviewed in the future. Break time services are also provided.
The school is exploring investment into extending the catering accommodation to support growth in the take up of meals.
There are additional requirements for hospitality services which involve catering for functions and meetings and staff break time service.
Currently the services are being managed in house and the school is looking to explore cost effective options via outsourcing this aspect of the school’s management activity. Visits to the school will be scheduled week commencing 6th December 2021.
Interested companies will be required to register their interest on the MyTenders portal as well as by emailing info@gy5.co.uk. On receipt tenderers will receive further information and be asked to complete a Pre-Tender Questionnaire.
Expressions of interest are due by 1200hrs on 19th November 2021.
Contract Start date: 1st July 2022
Length of contract: 3 plus 2 years
Estimated contract value: £194,000/ annum (Figures for 12 months up to July 2019)
