From September 2014 Years R, 1 & 2 in the Infant School Meals sector will get their lunches paid for. This comes from the Secretary of State for Education and the Minister of State for Schools and was published on the 23rd January 2014. You can read the letter here.
This really is the beginnings of a truly great step forward to pupil eating. Caterers will need to capitalise on this (potentially) guaranteed additional income in order to develop their school meals staff and facilities structures to keep these pupils on board for the rest of their primary lives and through to secondary schooling.
